Which do I recommend to take?
I highly recommend you take the ACT Plus Writing. This way, if a college requires the writing portion you will be covered and have more college admission options.
When is the ACT Test offered?
The next ACT examination will be offered on Saturday, October 26th at Monroe High School. The next date is December 14th at Monroe High School. Next, February 8th and April 12th will be offered at SMCC. The last test of the school year is offered on June 14th 2014 at Monroe High School.
When should I take the ACT Test? Source
As a Junior try to take the ACT test when you feel most comfortable with the Reading, Writing and English material practiced during Upward Bound sessions. If you are currently in a trimester where you are not taking English, wait until you have taken your required English class. If you feel more comfortable taking the exam in familiar surroundings plan on taking the exam in October, December or June. If you wait until June and receive a score not to your liking you will have to register as a Senior in high school. If I were you I would register for the December or February date to see where I can improve my scores, then retake it in June. Make sure to register early to avoid late fees.

Do you have any information about how the test day is? Source
Make sure that you get plenty of rest the night before and eat something the morning of. The test begins at 8:00am. Make sure you arrive to the high school about a half hour before start time. There usually is a line outside the door before they begin admitting test takers into the building. Dress comfortably. I personally recommend a hoodie or zip-up over a shirt so that if you are cold or warm you can feel comfortable. Make sure you print your ticket and bring it with you. Put it on the fridge if you think you're going to lose it. Bring your school ID or drivers license. Buy a pack of pencils and sharpen them the day before so that you have back ups. You can buy a pack at your local dollar store. Make sure they're #2 pencils. Also don't forget your calculator! Put everything in one space the night before on your kitchen counter so you're not stressed out.
